The British Council has launched a new series of professional engagement events for UK alumni in Qatar, in partnership with HSBC Qatar and Msheireb Museums, aimed at supporting career development and strengthening connections between education and industry.
The three-part event series brings together UK alumni and final-year students specialising in finance, banking, and business, providing a platform to explore emerging career opportunities, industry trends, and professional pathways aligned with Qatar’s economic priorities.

The first event in the series took place at Bin Jelmood House, Msheireb Museums, marking the start of a wider programme of engagement that will continue through March and April 2026. The series combines networking opportunities with expert-led discussions and direct engagement with employers, supporting alumni as they transition from education into meaningful careers.
As part of the partnership, HSBC Qatar is supporting Qatari nationals in accessing professional career opportunities and building long-term careers aligned with their ambitions. Each event features a dedicated HSBC careers and HR booth, allowing participants to explore and apply for available roles based on current opportunities and requirements.

The programme also includes panel discussions addressing key themes shaping the future of the financial sector, including Women in Finance and Entrepreneurship, AI and Digital Finance, and Green Financing, reflecting the evolving skills and leadership needed in a rapidly changing global economy.
Speaking on the launch of the series, Dr Waseem Kotoub, Country Director, British Council Qatar, said:
“UK alumni are a powerful bridge between education and the world of work. Through this partnership with HSBC and Msheireb Museums, we are creating spaces where alumni can connect with industry leaders, gain insight into emerging trends, and access real career opportunities. This series reflects our commitment to supporting employability, inclusion, and lifelong connections between the UK and Qatar.”
Mohammed Al Sultan, Head of Human Resources at HSBC Qatar, said: “At HSBC, we are committed to supporting Qatari talent in building meaningful and sustainable careers. Through our partnership with the British Council, we are pleased to engage directly with UK alumni in Qatar, offering insights into career pathways within the financial sector and connecting graduates with real professional opportunities. Initiatives like help develop future-ready skills and strengthen the talent pipeline supporting Qatar’s evolving economy.”
Abdulla Al Naama, General Manager, Msheireb Museums, said: Within Msheireb Museums, we recognise that preserving our heritage goes hand-in-hand with nurturing the future leaders of Qatar’s knowledge-based economy. As a narrative museum that functions as a space for dialogue and community forums, we are delighted to partner with the British Council and HSBC Qatar for this series. This initiative links international academic distinction with local industry needs, supporting the professional journeys of UK alumni while contributing to the active, creative workforce envisioned in Qatar National Vision 2030."

Through its UK Alumni programme, the British Council continues to strengthen professional networks, support skills development, and create opportunities for graduates to contribute to Qatar’s economic and social development.
