Tale as old as time Six Senses AlUla will open in a prime position within a spectacular natural oasis sprinkled with lush palm groves and framed by dramatic red-sandstone cliffs. Home to the ancient Nabatean civilization, this once important trading destination, strategically placed along the historical spice route connecting east and west, pays homage to centuries of human history and culture. Today, the immaculately preserved monumental tombs, replete with elaborately decorated facades dating from the 1st century BC to 1st century AD, make AlUla the Kingdom’s first UNESCO World Heritage site. With surroundings this magnificent, the 100 guest villas and 25 residences will be built using architectural methods that blend stealthily into it, unadorned by unnecessary fuss yet radiant in their ability to create the ultimate wow factor. Arabian adventures Once open, immersive guest experiences will include strolling freely among Arabian wonders, witnessing the echoes of history etched on tomb walls, and entering another realm of light and beauty as the stars begin to paint the sky. Handcrafted experiences will include sunrise yoga and meditation classes, moon bathing, evening singing bowl ceremonies, and moon and starlit dining. Six Senses Spa will be a place of deep serenity, forming part of the guest journey towards self-expansion and expression with locally inspired treatments taking guests on a unique Arabian wellness adventure. There will also be opportunities to help preserve the Arabian leopard – an important and symbolic creature in the Kingdom’s culture and ecosystem – as part of the brand’s track record as an environmental steward committed to preserving the precious wildlife that inhabits its communities. Epicurean journeys Enhancing the resort’s in-house culinary experiences will be dramatic destination dining possibilities among natural geological rock formations and caves. The walls of the restaurants transplant guests back in time, as they’re surrounded by rock drawings dating back thousands of years. Through the brand’s Eat With Six Senses food and drink philosophy, Six Senses will bring out the best of the region’s cuisine and seasonal produce: from chef’s tables to exciting pop-ups, and one-off special moments to cultural cooking classes, there will be something for everyone. A visual feast The vision for Six Senses AlUla will curate and bring to life a serious yet playful, contemporary interpretation through art collections and installations, sound, and music, to bring the extraordinary location and architecture to life. It will offer a dynamic immersion into the Nabatean heritage and culture, inspiring relevance to a multi-generational, international audience. Looking outwards, Six Senses AlUla will host international music and artist collaborations, global wellness, yoga, and retreat programming. Time to do something sensational “Bringing to life the drama and beauty of a site with unprecedented historical and cultural significance is a sensational opportunity,” says Six Senses Chief Executive Officer Neil Jacobs. “It inspires uncompromising sustainability, well-being, and hospitality that ignites the senses in a way that is profoundly emotional. It is exciting to be a new chapter to AlUla’s legacy.” Naif AlHamdan, Managing Director of AlUla Development Company, commented that the agreement represents the company’s commitment to increase luxury hospitality offerings in one of the most ancient archaeological sites, adding: “We are working to enrich the hospitality offerings and experiences in AlUla so that we can enable visitors to explore its rich history amidst its natural picturesque setting.” Fabien Toscano, Chief Executive Officer of AlUla Development Company, commented on the partnership, "We are excited to join hands with Six Senses to open a one-of-a-kind luxury hotel in AlUla. The venture aligns with our commitment to elevating the hospitality offering in AlUla and marks another significant stride in our pursuit of sustainable development, contributing to the economic diversification and transformation of Saudi Arabia in line with Vision 2030." As the Saudi Arabian Kingdom begins to welcome more international visitors to the wonders of its esoteric desert, Six Senses AlUla promises to connect guests to the past while reimagining future possibilities and creating new memories and dreams. Six Senses AlUla is set to open in 2027. #AlUla #SixSensesAlUla

  • Years of Culture and Qatar Museums’ Community Service Section Embark on a First-ever Joint Volunteer

Qatar-Indonesia 2023 Year of Culture Cements Lasting Ties with Next Generation of Indonesian Artists Years of Culture announced its inaugural volunteer mission in collaboration with Qatar Museums’ Community Service section, as part of the Qatar-Indonesia 2023 Year of Culture. The large group of 23 volunteers and artists from Qatar Museums, as well as students from Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar and volunteers from Qatar Youth Hostels, travelled to the SMKN 1 Rota Bayat School in Indonesia to foster connections, promote cross-cultural understanding, and build on the trust that exists between Qatar and Indonesia at the grassroots level. “After celebrating our 10-year anniversary last year with the entire MENASA region, we took stock of what has made Years of Culture so successful over the years. The answer was quite clear – individual connections and friendships forged during the many exchange programs facilitated throughout the years. In essence, the volunteers traveling to Yogyakarta are our front-line cultural ambassadors, building trust through shared learning and experiences,” said Years of Culture representative. The SMKN 1 ROTA Bayat School, a well-respected vocational and technical school in the Bayat – Klaten region, was originally built with the support of Qatar’s Reach Out to Asia initiative in 2009 after the devastating earthquake that hit the region in 2006. The school graduates promising young talent specialized in traditional Indonesian arts like batik-making, ceramic-making, gamelan music and dance. The rich and comprehensive workshop program from Years of Culture and Qatar Museums’ Community Service section, developed in line with Ministry of Education requirements, was designed to enrich the educational experience of students and provide them with practical insights into the dynamic realms of art, culture, and professional development. Volunteers led a series of workshops designed to empower students with valuable skills across several creative disciplines, from photography to digital marketing, and videography, event management for museums and exhibitions, as well as product development in fashion and design. Speaking just ahead of the volunteer group’s departure for Indonesia, Hazem Idriss, Head of Community Services Section at Qatar Museums, said, “I’ve been working with the SMKN 1 ROTA Bayat School since it first opened in 2009 and saw many incredible students flourish and become prominent artists, teachers and collaborators. I am thrilled to be able to return once again at the helm of our very first official volunteer trip.” Years of Culture is an initiative that seeks to strengthen cultural ties between nations, promoting mutual understanding and appreciation through interpersonal connections and immersive experiences. Through a series of cultural exchanges and collaborations, Years of Culture aims to showcase the rich cultural heritage of participating countries and foster lasting connections between diverse communities. #QatarMuseums

  • Montblanc unveils Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph GCC Limited Edition

Montblanc’s Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph intertwines history, passion and timeless horology elegance well recognised in Middle East Montblanc’s Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph intertwines history, passion and timeless horology elegance weMontblanc has unveiled a brand-new Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph limited edition of the historic model that began as a timekeeper on Paris’ famous Champs-de-Mars horse racing track in 1821, and has continued to be a sought-after timepiece by collectors around the world. The GCC Region Chronograph, limited to just 50 pieces, includes distinctive references to countries in the Middle East’s GCC region, where the spirit and legacy of horse racing and fine watchmaking is equally cherished. The exclusive collection is a beautiful continuation of the Maison’s renowned “inking” chronograph, which was updated in 2022 in a new 43mm case size, and is now presented in this highly contemporary design in a stainless-steel case with black DLC coating, a multi-layered anthracite dial, and refined touches of dark green. Combining finishes and textures that play with the light, the timepiece features a graphic anthracite Clou de Paris base plate, with added anthracite sub dials that stand out with their sunray finishing. The hour and minute indexes, along with the three counters, have been laser-cut to reveal the black finishings below, while the flange of the dial is satin finished for even more contrast. Touches of green pay tribute to the shade of green included on most national flags of countries in the GCC, a colour that is deeply rooted in the region’s history, culture and religion, and represents unity, freedom and hope. The bevelled double indexes, skeletonized second time zone hand, screws, and Day & Night indications are also crafted in green, along with the alligator strap and the luminescence seen on the hour and minute hands when the sun goes down. Adding both aesthetic and cultural appeal – and enhancing the watch’s uniqueness and collectability - the Limited Edition GCC Chronograph is the first Nicolas Rieussec timepiece to feature numerals on the chronograph counters and date in Arabic. The Montblanc Star Legacy Chronograph Nicolas Rieussec GCC Limited Edition is powered by the self-winding Manufacture monopusher chronograph movement MB R200, and the first in-house movement by the Maison. Designed to reach the highest level of technical efficiency and aesthetics, the Chronograph is equipped with a column-wheel that controls the monopusher mechanism. To improve the chronograph’s start, the connection between the gear train and the chronograph's wheels is alternately engaged and disengaged by a vertical disc clutch and functions without any wear and tear. This mechanism prevents the elapsed time discs from jumping when the chronograph is switched on. The timepiece features a monopusher, which is ergonomically positioned at 8 o’clock, where the wearer’s thumb can conveniently operate it. Additionally, a rapid-reset mechanism for the hour and date is extremely practical for travellers who journey from one time zone to another. These indicators can be reset either clockwise or counter-clockwise without affecting the position of the minute hand. The rate is regulated by a large 10-mm-diameter balance wheel with screws, which oscillates regularly thanks to its high moment of inertia (12 mgcm²) and its frequency of 28,800 A/h (4 Hz). The stable rate is further enhanced by the double barrel, providing 72 hours of power reserve. Furthermore, the balance bridge is open-worked, ensuring the precise positioning of the oscillator for optimal shock resistance. The Montblanc Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph GCC Limited Edition comes with two interchangeable straps – one in green alligator, and the other in anthracite textile featuring the Clou de Paris motif – and will be sold exclusively in Montblanc Boutiques across the region. • ‘THE PEARL CULLINAN’: A BIRTHDAY GIFT LIKE NO OTHER

“The Middle East region has long been the source of many of the most technically complex, creatively ambitious Bespoke commissions ever undertaken by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. ‘The Pearl Cullinan’ stands at the very summit of those achievements and is a supreme example of the marque’s creativity and craftsmanship. It is also the very first client Bespoke project to be commissioned through our Private Office Dubai. This is an extension of the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood and gives clients direct access to our talented Bespoke designers, together with the full support of their local dealer partner. As the motor car is a birthday gift to the father of a longstanding patron, it adds a very special dimension to the project: it has been a privilege to create such a magnificent motor car to mark this auspicious occasion. ‘The Pearl Cullinan’ not only has a deep personal meaning to both father and son, it also commemorates the great heritage story of the family. At Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, highly Bespoke commissions have always been crafted with deep emotional connections in mind and each motor car has its own tale.” César Habib, Regional Director Middle East & Africa, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is delighted to present ‘The Pearl Cullinan’ – a magnificent, one-of-one Bespoke motor car commissioned by the owner’s family to mark a significant birthday. It is also the first Bespoke project to be revealed by the Private Office Dubai, which works with local Dealer Partners to bring the authentic Goodwood experience to clients across the Middle East and Africa region. ‘The Pearl Cullinan’ was commissioned in early 2022 by a longstanding Rolls-Royce client, to mark his father’s 90th birthday. Regional Director, César Habib, and Bespoke Lead Designer, Michelle Lusby, were originally introduced to the father with the purpose of understanding his passions and life story; these meetings provided valuable insights to inform the design direction for the commission. BESPOKE PEARL ROSE EXTERIOR FINISH The Bespoke Pearl Rose finish is inspired by the colour of the owner’s most prized pearl in his extensive, world-class collection and is reserved exclusively for this motor car: it will not be available to any other client in future. Paint specialists at the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood used carefully selected pigments to replicate a delicate hint of pink rarely found in natural pearls. Unusually, the paint combines both metallic and pearlescent effects to give exceptional depth and lustre. Perfecting the finish required around 30 different iterations, each applied to a full-sized body panel. These were pre-checked under daylight simulation lamps in the Atelier at Goodwood, then sent to the client to make sure the colour was correct when viewed under the Middle Eastern sun. The paint also underwent extensive technical testing to ensure it will remain unaltered by heat or UV light over its lifetime. The Pearl Rose finish is complemented with a single coachline, applied by hand in Rose Gold paint, to match the rose gold-plated Spirit of Ecstasy mascot. The rose gold theme also extends to the Bespoke treadplates, which are revealed on each of the four door sills upon opening. INTERIOR: THE ART OF PRESENTATION The interior of ‘The Pearl Cullinan’ features two different leather colours. The front seats – where the father prefers to travel as a passenger – are finished in his favourite Cashmere Grey. In reference to the family’s heritage, the rear seats are trimmed in Ardent Red which takes inspiration from the colour of the material on which pearls are presented to customers, to best highlight their subtle natural colour variations. In a similar vein, the burr walnut veneer echoes the wooden presentation boxes in which pearls are traditionally handed over to customers upon purchase. Bespoke embroidery detailing includes ‘RR’ monograms in Rose Gold thread on the headrests, and rear seat inserts in Grace White, inspired by the symmetrical growth patterns of an oyster shell and angled at the same precise 55 degrees as the veneer. A CELEBRATION OF MOTHER-OF-PEARL ‘The Pearl Cullinan’ features one of the most extensive uses of mother-of-pearl ever seen in a Rolls-Royce motor car. The natural variations of this beautiful material created opportunities and challenges in equal measure for the marque’s designers and craftspeople. This is particularly apparent with the detailed design of the Picnic Tables, fitted to the rear of the front passenger seats. The upper surface features an intricate, circular pattern inspired by traditional Arabic design that draws the eye inwards to a central point. Each tabletop is then inlaid with 1,351 separate pieces of mother-of-pearl, every one individually selected and placed by hand in the surrounding burr walnut marquetry and sealed with clear lacquer. The natural shade and colour differences in both the mother-of-pearl and the wood mean each tabletop is a unique work of art. The burr walnut fascia incorporates an exquisite mother-of-pearl inlay inspired by traditional Middle Eastern art. At its centre is the Arabic word for ‘father’, inlaid in stainless steel. In a first for Rolls-Royce, the Bespoke dashboard clock is set in a mother-of-pearl surround; the dial and hands are in rose gold. The centre rotary dial is also finished with mother-of-pearl, giving it a tactile, jewel-like quality. Above the occupants, the Bespoke Starlight Headliner shows the sky as it appeared on the night and at the very place the commissioning client’s father was born. Michelle Lusby, Bespoke Lead Designer at the Private Office Dubai, said, “For me, there was a huge emotional connection with this Bespoke project. I had the privilege of spending time with the commissioning family, which allowed me to discuss details of the design directly with them, and really understand their true significance. Their unique use of mother-of-pearl was a great creative and technical challenge for us: to see the Picnic Tables go from my original digital designs to those beautiful, highly detailed finished works of art was fantastic. This is a truly special commission in so many ways, and a project we aspire to have as Rolls-Royce designers. Emotions inspire our imaginations.” #CULLINAN #RollsRoyce

  • Lobito de Mar and BiBo transform the essence of gastronomy of Doha

The fusion of flavors presented by Lobito de Mar and BiBo promises to redefine the culinary panorama of the city. Lobito de Mar and BiBo, the most celebrated culinary concepts of chef Dani Garcia, have joined forces to offer Doha a gastronomic experience like no other. In the wake of an exciting reopening event on October 10 at the Marsa Malaz Kempinski hotel, both restaurants are eager to offer a distinctive culinary experience for the city. With an extraordinary reopening event, Lobito de Mar and BiBo marked a culinary milestone in Doha, a celebration of Andalusia's roots, offering visitors the chance to rediscover authentic Spanish cuisine and reconnect with its flavors and spirit. During the event, Lobito de Mar became an epicenter of flavor fusion like no other. In honor of the event, the Marbella chef created a menu that combines Spanish traditions and modern creativity. A unique sensory journey was created through dishes with surprising aromas, textures, and flavors. This event perfectly encapsulated the essence of both restaurants as well as celebrating the influence of Eastern and Western gastronomy through the fusion of two culinary cultures, where Andalusia's sophistication blended with Arab culture's vitality. An exciting relaunch of Lobito de Mar and BiBo, where culinary excellence meets cultural significance in a fusion of art, music, and gastronomy, promises to redefine Doha's gastronomic landscape. Lobito de Mar, located on the ground floor, will continue to delight the guest with its fresh seafood menu. Prepared seafood, crustaceans and mollusks of Spanish origin, skewers, tuna recipes and rice dishes, all in the style of Alicante, will all be part of the catering proposal. The gastronomic scene will be enriched by BiBo, a restaurant located on the first floor of the location, with legendary dishes such as oxtail brioche, Burger Bull or prawns. The concept of merging the two restaurants will also result in a unique experience for diners because they will be able to enjoy the food from both restaurants simultaneously. The magic of Lobito de Mar and BiBO is a contemporary and sophisticated culinary experience that explores the richness of Spanish gastronomy. #LobitodeMar #BiBo

  • Geneva International Motor Show comes to Qatar with Alfardan Premier Motors at the forefront

Having first been held in 1905 in Switzerland, the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) is now synonymous with automotive history and culture – and this year it added an exciting new dimension by hosting an event in Qatar to showcase technology and innovation. At the forefront of the show was Alfardan Premier Motors Co., the official retailer of Jaguar Land Rover in the State of Qatar, with a stunning display of the latest models from JLR’s House of Brands: cars that distinguish themselves with their unique philosophy of luxury by modern design. Alfardan Premier Motors is a perfect example of innovation through service, which prompted the team to display the stunning Range Rover SV as the centrepiece of the Motor Show in Doha. The new Range Rover SV is distinguished by carefully-crafted enhancements that showcase and complement the new Range Rover’s modernist design, with each example lovingly hand-crafted in the UK by the Special Vehicles (SV) division. The Range Rover SV lined up alongside the Range Rover Sport at GIMS Qatar; a vehicle that redefines sporting luxury, effortlessly combining assertive and instinctive on-road performance with trademark Range Rover refinement, progressive design sophistication, and connected convenience. The full range of the iconic Defender family was also on display, including the latest Defender 130. Two fully accessorised Defenders from Alfardan Premier Motors were shown at The Outpost Al Barari resort, forming part of a GIMS activation based outside the main show in the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, designed to showcase offroad vehicles in their natural element. The all-electric Jaguar I-PACE, which points to the new electrified era for the brand’s future, was additionally shown. A paragon of performance and comfort, the I-PACE perfectly represents the pioneering spirit of the Geneva Motor Show and Alfardan Premier Motors in Qatar. Lining up alongside the Jaguar I-PACE was the acclaimed Jaguar F-PACE: a luxury performance SUV that brings together award-winning design, efficiency, and intuitive technologies, delivering greater performance, agility, and dynamism than ever before. Samer Bou Dargham, General Manager for Alfardan Premier Motors, commented: “The Geneva International Motor Show in Qatar was a genuinely ground-breaking event and it was a privilege for us to be there. Especially, of course, with such a stellar line-up of vehicles from JLR that we felt proud to show to such an enthusiastic public, also during a weekend when the eyes of the motorsport world were on Qatar. For us, it was a real pleasure to meet existing and potential customers, to immerse them in the House of Brands and share our passion. We sell these exceptional cars with total commitment to the highest possible standards of service, backed up by in-depth knowledge of the brands.” For more information on GIMS Qatar, please visit: https://genevamotorshow.com/qatar-2023/ #GenevaInternationalMotorShow #AlfardanPremierMotors
