Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner university, welcomes seven new faculty members for the 2022-23 academic year. Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q, welcomed the new faculty members to the CMU-Q community. âCMU-Q faculty members are experts in their fields, and educators that are dedicated to undergraduate learning. The Libraryâs participation aims to showcase its role as a state-of-the-art center for conservation and digitization of archives in the region Qatar National Library (QNL) is participating in the five-day International Council on Archives (ICA) Congress Abu Dhabi 2023, which ends on 13 October. The congress has been held every four years since its inaugural session in 1950 and is globally recognized as the most important forum for professionals, institutions, and industries engaged with archives, records, and information management. As one of the regionâs leading entities in this field, QNL has much to contribute at major archiving conferences, and Abeer Al Kuwari, Director of Research and Learning Services at Qatar National Library, is proud of the role the Library is playing in advancing archiving in the region. Seeds for the Future Program in Doha Under the patronage of Qatarâs Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), Huawei kicks off the 2023 Seeds for the Future program at an official opening ceremony that took place today in the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), Doha, Qatar. Bringing together 175 students from elite universities across the Middle East and Central Asia (ME & CA) for the first time ever in Qatar, the regional event aims to develop local talent, share knowledge, increase the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector awareness, and foster a digital community for young ICT talents. - M7 Open First Retail Pop-Up Store: Not Your Average Labels
M7 invites the public to discover a curated collection by local and GCC designers for women and men in Qatarâs hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in fashion, design, and technology M7 recently launched its first ever pop-up store, which showcases brands across different categories of clothing and accessories. M7, known for its commitment to design excellence, introduces this curated space highlighting both emerging and covetable labels from Qatar and the GCC region. The event will remain open until 3 November 2023. M7's retail pop-up promises a refreshing perspective in design, featuring a carefully curated collection encompassing ready-to-wear, womenswear, menswear, abayas, accessories, and watches. Visitors can explore and shop the latest creations from a selection of visionary designers based in Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and France. In addition, M7 is collaborating with artists and designers to raise funds for people affected by the ongoing crisis in Gaza with proceeds going to Qatar Red Crescent. Bashair Hassan Al Emadi's Dollab Line and Dana Hassan Al Emadi's brands each showcase distinctive womenswear creations. Haya Al Adsani's Harlienz also feature with their unique abaya designs, and Ghada Al Subaey presents 1309 Studios, a minimalist womenswear brand. Nouf Al Mulla unveils the elegance of LIN, Juwaher collaborates with FJ Design for a standout womenswear line, and Ebtesam Alhjaji reimagines the abaya with Soleil, her womenswear brand. Wadha fuses tradition and modernity in her unique womenswear collection, while Nurwear brings forth a self-named brand with contemporary flair. Ahmed Al Motawa adds a timeless touch with his watch brand TIMEPIECE, and Amna Al Mesnad showcases TRZI, an abaya brand that blurs the lines between Qatari cultural attire and the global fashion world. The Congress Centre at Expo 2023 Doha set the stage for a pivotal discussion on the transformative impact of technology in the global climate effort. The panel discussion, "Technology and Innovation as a Driver for Ambitious Climate Action Globally," convened a cadre of esteemed leaders and experts to explore how cutting-edge innovations can be harnessed to address pressing climate challenges.
